The more often a student is absent, the poorer the performance. Things get worse for students who are chronically absent (more than 18 days for any reason in a school year). NYS Commissioner of Education Betty Rosa shared the attached letter with schools. She reminds us that school needs to be a safe and inviting place. She also stresses the important role parents/guardians have in making certain their students get to school each day.
